It took most of the afternoon, but I photographed and got the twig jewelry and carved pen and pencil sets up on etsy.com today. Wow, these things take a long time. By the time I got those things listed, my mouse hand was numb! But I'm glad I got things up by this weekend ... by the tine I'd finished the final listing, I'd already had some hits on the listings I first put up! Earth Day is coming up fast, and I'm hoping I can get all my eco-friendly items up in time.
The arm and shoulder are slowly healing. I can now raise my arm above my head. Yay! I can actually (carefully, and slowly) get things off the top of the fridge!

Thanks for asking! With daily icing and PT exercises, the shoulder is more functional day by day. Still an ugly bruise on the arm, but that will go away eventually. No tank tops for me!
Meanwhile, I did my first mold blow yesterday. We didn't quite get the two parts of the mold together, but it looked really cool anyway. I probably should've saved it, but the annealing kiln was not quite warm enough at the time, and it was just a practice run. I really need a wider mouth for the blowhole, so I'll rework it and/or make another mold, but I'm so stoked with what I was able to do so far! I think I'd much rather blow a sculptural piece than a vase! (or maybe make sculptural vases?) If you have a suggestion, post a comment! Don't know if I'll be able to get to it, but sometimes people see the forest and the trees better than I do. Sometimes all I see is the ferns and the wildflowers in the understory ... :) Injured in the shop earlier this week. Surprisingly, I was so stunned at first, all I could do was lie on the ground, my body on strike, as if I'd forgotten how to sit up and move around. But when I finally found those synapses, I found I was able to move and put weight on the injured arm, so I didn't bother to go through the hassle of going to the doctor (and then get sent for a whole series of xrays and weeks and weeks of PT - life's too short, and who wants to take the time for that, if you can get by?) I hope it was the right decision, now that rotator problems are showing up and I can't lift my arm above horizontal and the wing bone hurts too, even though none of those areas took the brunt of the hit. I'm hoping I can work through it and the bruising doesn't result in any complications. Meanwhile, work will progress oh so slowly, as I try to just get through life.
Thinking about that book about dancing for your life again. The writing, the drawings. Maybe I need to do that dance. Hey hey hey, ho ho ho, heeyay heeyay heeyay hey! Dropped off blank hand drawn dried flower, leaf and/or feather cards and knot series photo print cards at the Cafe at Arts Collinwood. http://artscollinwood.org/cafe/
They want to keep a running display of my cards, so I'll be stopping by there on a regular basis to refresh/restock. Of course, I wasn't organized enough to shoot some pix of them before I dropped them off .... but maybe in a few weeks, when I make more, I'll post some. Shot more stuff for arthritics to post on the etsy site: http://www.etsy.com/shop/jhosnet
Now the copper bracelets are up. More to come later in the weekend. Then took time out for the opening and talk at the Sculpture Center. I'm really diggin the black foam stuff Carrie Dickason used on her subaru installation. May have to look around for a source of something similar. Now that the B/W show is almost over at the Pop Shop, I'm thinking I'm needing to do more b/w work, but in other media, like surface sculpture or maybe even some drawings/prints in ink. Maybe a woodcut? Right, like I'll have the time. Still... sometimes when the urge is there, these things make themselves ... and they elbow other projects out of the way to make time for themselves. It's due to get up above freezing towards the weekend, and hopefully some of those piles of snow will melt so I can get back into my studio without too much shoveling!
It's the LAST WEEK for the B/W show at the PopShop Gallery http://www.popshopgallery.com/. I pick up my work on Saturday, if you're anywhere near Lakewood, get out and see it! |
